Currently I’m – #1

What’s up, guys?!

So I decided to join the currently I’m bandwagon. Just because some of my new favorite bloggers actually do this, and I like amebo so I’d like to know what they had been up to, I decided to give it a go. So basically you guys will be seeing more of this monthly and I really hope to be consistent with it.

So let’s get started.

Currently, I’m…

Loving my new life planner from HDHQ goods. I recently got this life planner after my cousin gingered me as usual. I will be doing a review of the life planner soon. It has really been helping me to track my goals and progress.

Preparing for my first semester exams. I’m just counting down till I’m finally done with uni. I’m tired, 5 years is not beans!!!

Frustrated because bells can just like to be annoying! So decided to launch their student online portal (school of technology indeed) after 11 years of running a university and the whole thing is just messing up with my courses and I’m just tired of going back to their office because I have better things to do (e.g study) and Oh yh, you need to see the queue for the exam clearance form. Why is it a school of technology if all of these things can’t be done online!!!

Tired  of my school

Hoping to begin chapter 2 of my dissertation after my exams. I know some people who are already in chapter 4. Sigh

Appreciating  My amazing and loyal customer who always patronize my #vintageVibes and #getshaded collection. My readers who never fail to disappoint me by going through my blog nd dropping some of their thoughts in the comment box below.

Grateful about my BIBI  and life in general. Who knew I would be where I am today.

Missing my family and of course Lagos.

Wondering why some customers will send me a dm telling me they are interested in some items and begging for me to keep it, only for them to not get back to me 1 week after allowing me to lose other potential customers.

Loving my newest blog design for Jamila, Sekinat, and Nasiry. You can check them out here

http://www.jamrabz.com , http://www.sekinatsanni.com.ng

Counting down  to June.

Admiring  sekinat sanni’s  zeal. Not just because I  designed her blog and also had a photoshoot with her but because she’s such an amazing soul who is very supportive and of course slays in plus size. You guys need to check out her blog. Amazing and inspirational content she’s got.

So there goes my currently I’m  for this month and I hope you guys can either relate or this section. Let me know if you would like to continue with this series.

As usual, don’t forget to drop your thoughts!!!

#OUTANDABOUT | A DAY AT ELEGUSHI

Hey Guys,

Happy Holidays to you even though it’s coming late lol. Anyway, I hope you all had a blast this holiday season and you didn’t let this depressing economy get a hold your slay and happiness.

Elelgushi beach
Elelgushi beach

This holiday has been the best for me so far and I made sure I made the very best out of it. I’ve gotten better at driving at least I can say about very left the beginner stage. And I just want to say a big thank you to my customers. They are just the best. Even the ones that tell me to keep an item for them and then end up not getting back to me. THANK YOU STILL.

Anyway, so I went to Elegushi on the second of January which was a very wrong choice. We ( my friends and I) initially planned on going to Lekki Jakande beach, but they remembered they had a reunion at Elegushi beach so we just had to go there.  you can check out my previous  blog post on Lekki jakande beach here

P.S – I HATE ELEGUSHI BEACH

So we got there and I was alarmed! It was filled with o many people, just like a concert. Just imagine them collecting ₦1000 from over 3000 people just in one day. That’s a total of ₦3million … SHOOT ME!!!!

Anyway, I was actually pissed and irritated because it was filled with so many people, the beach was unkempt and smelly and it just made me sick.

But then the photographer in me came out to life. So I just thought to myself

Why not take pictures ehn?

So I decided to make good use of the crowd lol!

Everyone at Elegushi was so so so and even too happy. People were dancing, playing, eating, and living the life basically it just seemed like everyone in Nigeria was happy.

All in all, I still hate Elegushi beach but I must say I had a really wonderful time with my friends.

And by next week, I’m going to head back to reality (school).😔

I can feel myself doing big things this 2017 and I can’t wait to share it with you all. One wish I really have is to be featured on Guardian life this 2017 and I’m praying and working hard towards that dream and it can be achieved with your help.😊

Did you guys notice my home page and the blog redesign? What do you think of it?

I’m trying to work more on self-branding too lol.

I know most of you all have been to the Elegushi beach, what was your experience like?

Go Melanin | Go Fro

Hey guys,

What’s up with you all? I hope you all read my previous post on how much I hate the NYSC program and how I’m currently praying and fasting that they should scrap it lol, if you haven’t,you check it out here.

So my course mate / friend decided to rock her natural hair and I said to her;

Chisom, let’s do a photo shoot…with you wearing your afro.

And she said agreed.

Let me say this now and I’m not trying to brag or whatever but I basically inspired her to start embracing her natural hair since e were in 200 level and I must say I feel really proud of myself lol!

So Chisom is a bad ass makeup artist too, you can check out her Instagram page @thecla121 and her makeup page @cvabeauty.

We had to work with two styles,

1- where she wore her natural hair in a puff

2- where she finally embraced and wore hear hair in an afro. Mind you, she doesn’t wear her hair in Afro. This was her first major time.

We basically decided to make it fun and just shoot in some areas in my school.

When we were done with the first style, I found a perfect place to take these dope ass shots which blended well with her afro.

Please, Yall, let’s appreciate her melanin and my editing skills!! claps I think I’m really getting better at this, or what do you think?

During the shoot, she made a statement which made me all mushy ;

Zainab, I’ve never really embraced my afro and I don’t even like wearing it because I wasn’t sure if it would look good on me. But you just made me love it now.. Thank you!.

plus i look like my mom in the 70s lol!

See me feeling like a motivator lol! And I hate feeling mushy. It’s just weird!

Did Yall notice the retro hippie sunglasses, well it’s from my #getshaded collection and you can always send me a dm on Instagram or Twitter for your affordable Vintage shirts and sunglasses too?

P.S- I was about to sell my camera about last week and I started figuring out some things about it and I’m just falling in love with it the more. This baby is staying with me forever!

Thank you guys for reading, if you would like us to work on some sort of collaboration, click here and let’s work together!

Collaboration || Ric Hassani

Hey guys,

Been a while I know, my host has been shit and I can’t wait to transfer to another hosting service because I’m so damn tired of my current one!
Anyway, my previous post got deleted with my comments because they had to restore my blog to about a week before so now I have to find a way for you guys to check it out and drop your comments all over, do check out the previous post here.
So I was on twitter jejely when I got a mention from one of my followers who quoted Ric Hassani’s tweet asking for a fashion blogger who would like an to have exclusive pictures of him from his trip to Abeokuta (the Ake festival which I wish I had gone for sadly). So I just thought to give it a go.
If Yall don’t know Ric Hassani, he’s an upcoming musician and his genre is so unique. And I have only heard one of his songs and I must say, he sings beautifully.

So we (Ric and I) got talking on Twitter and I decided to ask him what inspired the photo shoot because he felt at peace and I could feel it. So he said;

Some people always feel like you have to be with someone or find someone to find yourself but, people don’t know there is strenght in alone, there is strenght in ‘self’, you can be powerful when you are by yourself. And ‘self’ is the most peaceful and powerful place.

The whole concept Is my type of photography and I appreciate good photography when I see one, thanks to @xamanijr

Now I want you all to appreciate the next few photographs because they are beautiful.

Ric Hassani seems like a nice and humble gentleman and I hope to actually have a proper shoot with him in the nearest future!

The day I walked from VI to LEKKI.

Hey guys,

I hope You all are doing okay and I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on Aaliyah’s story, I really appreciate it and it just shows how much there’s still so much love in our hearts. If you haven’t read it, do check it out here.
So I went for an African Expo tech event titled Disruptive Africa Expo or something ike that about two weeks ago, sponsored by my former work place (finally done with internship) at four points hotel at Victoria Island. Apart from what I was to learn at the event, I was also looking forward to the food.

The Pomo Girl

Hey guys,

I hope you all are doing okay today. I must announce oo! I’m finally Done with my internship and I can’t be more excited, now I actually have time for things I barely have time for. E.g this blog, my natural hair blog, trying to open a minimal online store for the #vintageVibes collection and my natural hair products line.

Back to business.

So remember the previous post where I shared with you guys the  pictures from my collaboration with Roqeeba which you can out check here and my new camera (the Samsung NX300) which You can also check out here,i featured Aliyah.

the pomo girl, African girl child

I met her during our shoot in Surulere with Roqeeba immidatly we arrived at  Adelabu, and she stopped to ask

Aunty, are you taking pictures with the camera?

I was so surprised, I was like ‘yes I am’ and with so much excitement in her eyes she said

Please snap me

Roqeeba X Shona || saturday in lere

Hey guys,

I hope you all are doing great today. I’m just here counting down to when I’m going to be done with my internship and I can’t wait because I need proper rest and I need to have a life lol!

Anyway, some weeks back, roqeeba and i got talking and if you don’t Know her, she is a photographer and a creative one at that. we actually met on Instagram.

So we got talking  and we felt it would be nice to do a collaboration so she came up with a phone booth concept. Since the phone booth was invented ages ago so we thought to make it a complete retro theme.

Outfit Details

I wore a Black turtle With a vintage shirt. Together with a boyfriend Jean and a black and white platform sandal. I got the sandal at Konga, you can check it out.

She came to pick me up, I mean ow nice was that lol!

This was actually our first time of actually meeting and I must say,  we bonded so well Masha Allah.

We headed over to the phone booth at Sam Shonibare, Surulere. I took my new camera along just to check out the quality in broad daylight and of course to get used to it. by the way, I’m starting to find my way around the camera, we have really bonded lol! you can check out the post on the Samsung nx 3oo here.

here are the pictures which were taken at the Phone booth.

When we were done shooting at the phone booth, we started thinking of other cool places to take pictures so we sorta drove around Surulere looking for location and we found this really cool place with really dope paintings on the wall at Adelabu. would have loved to take pictures of all of the paintings but the owner said we had to pay and we got no money. but I already took a few shots before he decided to chase us away lol!

on our way, we met this little girl who was selling pomo (cow hide) and she became our muse. I will be sharing pictures from our shoot with her in another blog post. stay tuned!

All in all, I had a very fun day with roqeeba. when we were done, we headed over to her place so I could get the pictures and then she taught me how to use the lightroom software. using lightroom is actually pretty easy but I just couldn’t help being graphic lol! so I decided to turn some of the photographs we took into some sort of graphic Art. Roqeebah was shocked because this was the first time I would ever use lightroom and I changed the whole game lol! I guess I’m just a natural.notice how I changed the colors of the wall.same wall, different colors lol!

when we were done at Adelabu, we began looking for other places to take pictures again lol! so we got Eric Moore to take these shots.

[Tweet “a Saturday in lere with roqeeba”]

it was an amazing collaboration with Roqeebah

Roqeebah and I cant wait for many more collaborations. you can follow Roqeeba on Instagram or even check out her blog in the links below.

Samsung NX300 Review

HEY guys,

I hope you all are doing absolutely great? I know it’s been a while and I haven’t really had time to blog. My life is getting pretty interesting these days and I’m pretty excited about what’s to come. I hope you can stay tuned because I have some interesting posts lined up.

Did you check out my previous blog post on my trip to Jakande Lekki beach, no? Well, you should check it out here.

So I’m sure some of you may know I’m more of an IPHONEOGRAPHER, meaning I take most of my pictures and videos with my phone and it’s been doing a great job.

So during my photography class (which I never got to complete) I came across the mirrorless camera.

A mirrorless camera is a camera with an interchangeable lens that, unlike a single-lens reflex camera, a (D)SLR, does not have a mirror reflex optical viewfinder.

#outandabout || Jakande lekki beach

Hey guys,

I hope you all are doing alright, have you checked out my previous post on what I wore for Eid and one vintage shirt like that here and here. A few of the photographs I captured at the beach were featured on 360 nobs  so you can go check them out . you can also check out my portfolio here

We decided to go do ‘yawo Sallah’ which actually means going out to chill after Eid in Hausa lol.

My  family and I planned on going to Elegushi because it was basically the only beach we knew of  (and because it is always hyped) so off we went!

We got to Elegushi and then the guys at the entrance decided to charge us ₦9000. LOL! We laughed thinking the guy was joking but he wasn’t.Like was he insane , 9k for what? To enter the beach. A natural gift from God and it’s not like they maintain the beach with all the money they extort from the masses.  I was so darn pissed!

Long story short, we left Elegushi because we obviously couldn’t pay that much mind you, we were nine of us in the SUV. The guy’s attitude was just nasty and even if we were to end up paying the cash we wouldn’t have because it was just nasty.

So we decided to head home…

On our way home, we saw a traffic sign indicating that there was another beach in that same area so we decide to check it out and we landed at JAKANDE LEKKI BEACH.

And they didn’t even charge up to ₦5000 and we gladly paid lol. (I still don’t understand why we have to pay though).

We got to the beach and the fun began, tItried to be very careful with the ocean because the last time I went to the beach, I went back home PHONELESS. I wasn’t going  to let that happen to me again.

Jakande beach was fun and I captured so many beautiful people and beautiful moments. and I watched the sunset and it was breathtaking!

If I were to go to a beach anytime soon, it’s going to be Jakande Lekki beach. Even though tit’s all The same beach just barricaded. And did I mention how neat it is? Like way neater than that Elegushi everyone is always hyping.

I hope you enjoyed this  post and the pictures. And have you ever heard or been to Jakande Lekki beach? Let me know in the comment box below.
